Biography

Born in Tarrytown, NY. U.S. Representative from New York (1861-1865), Democrat. Served as Chair on the Committee on Expenditures in the Department of Treasury. After the Civil War, he served as the Naval Agent for the City of New York.  Fanny Seward references him in her 1862-1863 diary as attending dinner at their home in Washington, D.C. in March 1863.
