Biography

Mary Fitch (nee Hills) married Col. Horace Fitch, the son of Abijah Fitch, who was a travelling companion of William Henry Seward. Mary was the daughter of a William Hills. She and Horace Fitch had two daughters; she and her daughters outlived Horace. She is likely the "Mrs. Fitch" mentioned in Anna Wharton Seward's letter to Lazette Miller Seward in June 1873.
