Providence "Provey" (Norris) Langworthy Gadsby was the daughter of Benjamin Bradford Norris and Elizabeth (Richardson) Norris of Baltimore, Maryland. She was the third wife of John Gadsby whom she married around 1812-13. The couple had six children together. After John's death in 1844, Provey maintained ownership of the National Hotel in Washington, DC, until her own death in 1858.
