Biography

Known simply as Dwight Morris, he was Senior Colonel and Brigade Commander. It was on May 25, 1862 that Morris was appointed as the commander of the 2nd Brigade of the 3rd division of the Army of the Potomac which would lead him to command the Battle of Antietam. Mentioned in Frances Adeline Seward's 1866 diary, where Morris is said to have called the Seward home in Washington, DC.
