Biography

Virginia Victoria (Walters) Bonnaffon was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Abraham Golden Walters and Jane Louisa Adeline Souder. In 1866, she married Sylvester Bonnaffon a soldier in the 99th Pennsylvania Infantry. He was the recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor and was made Brevet General in 1865. Frances "Fanny" Seward references their wedding in her 1866 diary while visiting the Souders in Philadelphia.
