Biography

Maurice Delfosse served as the Belgian Minister Resident at Washington, beginning in 1865. Previous to that, he served as the Counsellor of Legation at London. Frances "Fanny" Seward references his visit to the Seward home in her 1866 diary, along with "four gentlemen who constitute the special mission from Belgium to announce to the Pres. the accession of King Leopold."
