Augustus Allen Hayes (jr.) was an American author that spent a significant portion of his adult life living in China. He travelled with William Henry Seward's nephew George Frederick Seward in China in 1864, and writes William Seward about it in a letter dated November 14, 1865. He wished to meet William Henry Seward, but in the end was not able to before returning to China.
