Robert H. Berdell served as the president of the Erie Railway Company from 1864-1867. He wrote to William Henry Seward Jr. on May 14, 1867 about William Henry Seward's (Jr.'s father's) proposed trip on Berdell's railway. He advised Seward Jr. on the best train for Seward Sr. to take.
