New York 23. 1825
Dear Father
I received a line from you a
a few days since (which is now at the
house). I had been long looking for one
and it came very gratefully to my feelings
tho' it was short.
I am wholy unable to form an opinion
further upon the probibility of our board’s
deciding to go thro your county – their mouths
are shut, & I have thought it more prudent
to avoid all pumping – in fact there has
been a studious omition of conversation upon
the subject since their return. Hone
Birth: 1781-10-25 Death: 1851-05-05
is
still absent & I know he has a strong
partiality in favour of that route. When
he returns & Gen Wickham
Birth: 1772 Death: 1845-11-16
with him, I
think if the route will admit of it they
will bring it that way

May I ask you to see Genl Wickham and
have a conversation with him before he comes
to town, with a view to assist to make a
strong impression upon his mind in my
favour, at the time of election here.
I had hoped that you would have
found it convenient to visit our city pre-
vious to the election.
When you learn anything about the
NewBurgh people, please communicate it.
Our little Augustus
Birth: 1820-05-18 Death: 1889-05-08
is a little better –
his tumour is reparing & will be opened in
a day or two.
When our President returns I shall
address you again.
Your Sincerely affectionate Son
B. J. Seward
