My dear Sister,
On Wednesday last I received your kind letter of 30^th
Jany, & if I had sometimes indulged the sinful thought
that during your happiness consequent on my Brothers
happy & safe return I was for a-while forgotten, your
letter soon silenced all such complaints – and I it turns
out as I knew it must be that my Brother is overwhelmed
with business & your little domestic circle is afflicted by
sickness. I wish when the warm weather comes you would
come on here, only the day before your letter came I was
thinking a great deal about you, the day was one pe-
culiar to this climate mild clear & beautiful not a
rough breath of wind my little Frank was playing out
all day. I thought how much you would have enjoyed
such a day with the little boys, it would do you good
to enjoy our healthy sea air for a few weeks do come.
My Brothers health will need at least so much recrea-
tion – how often it has pain[ ed ] me to know that he is so
immersed in care &business I have feared it would –
too, too, soon deprive us altogether of him – but the thought
is too much we must not indulge it.
My little Francis is as fair & delicate a little blossom
as you ever saw, has a chill & fevr once in every
10 or 15 days – talks so mild & pretty – admires "Uncle Henrys"
miniature very much. Augustus learns some at a good
school we have now but he is just as restless as ever.
I fear I shall not get to Mine Hillthis spring Mahlonthinks
he can do rather better here than there & I have too much
selfishness to urge what might turn out to be disavan-
tageous tho' it would so much add to my happiness
to be near some of my kindred I dare not dwell on the
subject a moment – but I am ungrateful to complain
I am enjoying a thousand undeserved comforts & kindnesses
every day – do write again I rejoiced to hear from you I had a
hearty crying spell. My love to Henry Kiss the little boys for Aunty
