Auburn 20th July 1837
Dear Freddy
I received your Letter a few days -
ago. — I am glad to learn that you are com-
ing home soon. — your ^corn in the^ Garden has grown
some, but it has not grown as much as
Augustus’s
are now ripe, and there are a great many
Cherries. — We have a great many Peas
& Beans & Beets in the Garden, and we
have also plenty of Potatoes, and Peter
digs some every day to boil for Dinner.
I have brought 26 [ live chicks ]

are nearly grown, so that we can [ kill ]

and eat them as we want them, we had
a Pot-Pie made of Chickens yesterday
for Dinner; —your kittens have grown
to be large ones & follow the old Cat
all about the backyard —
There is a great many young birds
on the Trees about the House, they ^are^
just learning to fly, and ^some^ times fail
to reach the tree they set out to fly to
to, and come to the ground.
