Dear Henry
Before this reaches you I hope
you will be in the enjoyment of a breathing
spell. I would not defeat this benevo-
lence; but leave my enquiries for the
occurrance of some leisure hour
when you shall have recovered from the
oppressions of the winter.
The Trust estate in Auburn is in
a dilapidated state & is comparatively
unproductive, for want of some incon-
siderable alterations & repairs. When
in Auburn, I procured estimates &
formed plans of for improvement, with the
view of representing them to the Trust
Co in connexion with a report of an ap-
propriation of funds laid out upon the
estate. But after all, I thought it
better to leave it for consultation with
you. The situation of that estate can
not be considered satisfactory: shall I
leave it for yourself, or some agent there

to look into & provide for – or will you
have me explain it further to you &
upon advisement undertake the improve-
ment; or shall it be for the present?

terminates on the 13th of June – at which
their interest (some twenty two hundred
dollars) becomes due – beside an ad-
vance for taxes: when under ordinary
circumstances, it would be proper
to address them a note: but supposing
it probable there may ^be^ considerations of
delay unknown to me, I have conclu-
ded not to move without instructions.

disposed to observe punctuality.
Further consultations confirm
me in the opinion that all is
safe in this county. I have seen

my views to him & others as you

of affairs. I was quite surprised
at his account of the struggle about
the Registry law – and am most
happy that you have come out (as
I think you have) unscathed.
Would it not be well for me
to drop down & see you in Auburn
or Albany after your return
from New York & Orange Co.?
If yes, please inform me a

Reason: hole
hile while before hand if you
can. I am sadly unsettled
in policy touching several
points of land office affairs & would
like much to see you if your leis-
ure permit.
Your grateful Brother
BJ Seward
I believe every thing was satisfactory
to Mr. Cary in the Chautauqua Bank.
