Dear Henry
Your letter of the 11th was
handed me this morning. I am thankful
for the favorable accounts it gives me of
the state of your health.
On the 12th I succeeded in obtaining
Mr Duers
powers of Attorney, upon which I am
to make deeds and discharges, and
not until this morning have I been
able to come to an understanding with
him in regard to the Cook
Nelson Van Ness
we have secured our object - but I fear
the shape of the arrangement may not be
entirely satisfactory to Cook & M. I
must omit explanations till we meet,
In the mean time I have written
to Cook & Maxwell & to Van Ness that
they may look for me in ten days
at Auburn after a hasty visit in
Florida , where if we can packed up &
set off in time, we propose to spend the
Sabbath - you will soon see us at the Executive
