Saturday morning —
My dear Henry,
It is almost absurd
to suppose this letter will
reach you but my anxiety
will not allow me to remain
silent – A letter this morning
from Gen. Scott
Augustus
Survey there being already
more than the usual complement
of Officers detailed — Also
that Gen. Abercrombie
commandent at Corpus Christi
has sent a requisition for
the immediate return of all
the officers there stationed —

disposition of both himself and
the Superintendent
has been the cause of misleading
us all — What is next
to be done – You will not
think of allowing Augustus to
go to Corpus Christi – s I think
cannot fail to advise his
resignation — I am so utterly
in the dark that I know not
what to write — I do not know
whether Augustus met you at
Florida or whether you have
received my previous letters —
There remains but a week
for deliberation —
your own
Frances —
