New York Decr 19th 1851
Mrs Seward
Dr Madam
I advise that you
take three pellets, from the vial not marked,
dry upon your tongue, every night for
two weeks, then omit them for a week,
afterwards take a dose once a week
at night.
Take three pellets of Veratrum, once a
week in the morning an hour before or two
hours after eating.
Whenever ^you^ feel symptoms of an approaching
head ache – take three pellets of Aconite
every two hours until the symptoms pass
away, or if the attack fully supervenes
dissolve a half dozen pellets of aconite
in twelve teaspoons full of cold water, and
take one teaspoon full every 15 minutes
until the headache subsides – then stop
it.
Whenever you are attacked with the palpitation
and the severe pain you described to
me, take immediately a dose of the
Veratrum and in an hour a dose of
the Aconite.
If any new symptoms appear, you
may consult me by letter – or consult
