Auburn Aug 14, 1852.
My dear Uncle:
Mr Blatchford
of Messrs Bostwick
It is almost impossible upon the
meager statement of facts presented in that letter to
give an accurate and reliable answer to their ques-
tions. I send the inclosed letter, the best answer
I can make, which you can have a copied &
sent.
I am of opinion that in the trial Messrs
Bostwick & Kellogg
evidence. They do not seem to be aware of the
act of July 4, 1836 and I presume that their
counsel has pleaded simply the general issues.
If I can be of any further assistance pray com-
mand me,
Ever gratefully Your Nephew
Clarence A. Seward.
The Honorable
William H. Seward.
U. S. Senate.
