Port Jervis, Dec 22, 1856.
Dear Uncle,
In answer to your note of the
18th instant I have to state that an agent –
James Bennett Esquire – will leave here on
Wednesday next, for North Carolina, via Washington.
From a personal interview with Mr. Bennett
you will be able to learn what has been done
here, and what has not been done at Edenton, during
the past three months, for the release of the unfortu-
nate Anthony Adams
Birth: 1848
, – and I hope that you
will hear the whole story.
Very Respectfully,
and truly,
Your Nephew,
Augustus Seward.
The Honorable
William H. Seward
Washington, D.C.
