My dear Mother,
For once in a long
time on Sunday I find myself all alone
both of my roommates having gone out of
town. Wm Henry
call him here) finished his term at the Law
school last Thursday and started for home
the next morning, although he was always
very quiet seldom talking but little Yet
we found that it was with much regret that
we were obliged to bid him good bye not
realizing untill then what a pleasant com-
panion he had been for us all.
My other roommate (Cole
Auburn last night to make a visit where he

intends remaining for a few weeks
I have had two events happen during
the past week which I had given up a long
time ago, first a visit from Clarence Seward
who has been here a few days on business,
and second I have had a good sleighride
the first this winter and probably the last
for it is quite warm and the snow is going
off very fast.
Business and every thing else still appears
very dull with little prospect of any change
for the better we are only keeping up on
the strength of that "good time coming"
but even that is so far off that it would
require a very large size Telescope to see in
which direction to look for them.
I received by Mr Wharton
and also the money & letter for which I
am much obliged, I have seen Fred
several times last week he is looking as
well as usual and quite busy,
The weather still continues very mild

with but little change from what
it has been all winter.
Fathers
excites considerable talk and is looked
on by many of the Democrats as a breaking
away from the Republican party.
Love to all
Your affectionate Son
