Indian Key
March 6th 1859
Dear Mother
I received your letter
of Feby 7th by the last mail. am
glad that you are all getting along
well.
The winter is about over here
and has been a very moderate one
though by the papers it is stated
to have been quite severe in some
parts of the North.
I have not received any official
announcement of my promotion
yet though I expect it soon.
From your letter I suppose you will
remain in Washington sometime
after yourthe 4th of March.
Give my love to all
Your affectionate Son
Augustus
