Friday March 8 th
My dear Henry
  I was only able to
write a line yesterday
to day I am better–
Ethan Warden
Birth: 1803-10-21 Death: 1861-03-22
is still
living, but I think there
is no ground for expecting
his recovery – I believe
his anxiety about you
the 4 th injured him
but I went to see him
Tuesday and found him
composed and sensible
though exceedingly feeble
He talked of you continually
Page 2

with reverence & affection_
“Well the Governor is
Safe” were his first words–
It was at that time
that Mrs Warden
Birth: 1804-06-10 Death: 1883-12-18
spoke to
me of the office – She said
she did so without his
knowledge or consent – I
felt that it was unwise
but could not tell her
so in all her sorrow –
The next evening Julia
Birth: 1839-04-03 Death: 1866-01-11

came here to say that
her mother wished to recal
what she had said –
Charles
Birth: 1833-07-10 Death: 1883-08-30
will go to Detroit
James
Birth: 1843-08-24 Death: 1869-12-15
has employment of
some kind in Seneca Falls
& Julia will return to N. Haven.

Now that the season of
our greatest apprehension has
gone by I see the almost
insurmountable difficulties
by which you are surrounded.
Without being able to see how
I have faith & hope that
you will be able to sur-
mount them – I did not
see Mr Austin
Birth: 1805-09-26 Death: 1880-12-20
yesterday, but
learn that he says you
looked well and were
cheerful –
We are all about as usual –
yesterday morning the mercury
was below zero– it
is a little higher to day
May God protect & guide
you
your own
Frances –
