Dear Father.
I went home to
Auburn during the holidays
on a visit and while there
your letter of October 21st
written just before your depar-
ture for Peking was received.
Was glad to hear that
your hands had somewhat
improved and your general
health was good.
This is rather
a dull place, though much
more is going on now than
in the summer months.
Savannah has rather
drawn off the trade from
this city during the time

that has elapsed since the
War.
Shall probably remain
in this city or Louisville,
during the next year.
Aunty
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03
has improved very
much since you left
and now walks out consid
-erably in good weather, I
was quite impressed to
see her so active on
my last visit.
Yours affectionately
Augustus
