Biography

She was daughter of philanthropist Wayman Crow. She had a romantic relationship with CSC, the famous stage actress, as a nineteen-year-old fledgling actress Emma began an affair with much older Charlotte Cushman, a famous stage actress. With CSC's encouragement, she married Edwin Charles Cushman, Charlotte Cushman's nephew and adopted son. The family lived in Rome where Ned worked at the US Consulate in Italy. They moved back to St Louis before the 1870 US Census and by 1880, they were living in Newport, RI. Late in life, Emma penned, "Insight; A Record of Psychic Experiences: A Series of Questions and Answers Dealing with the World of Facts, the World of Ideals and the World of Real." She died of pneumonia.
