Biography
American attorney and a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
From Findagrave: "United States Supreme Court Associate Justice. Born in Hebron, New York, he graduated from Middlebury College, Vermont, at the age of 15 and began a successful law career in his twenties. In 1821, he was the youngest delegate to serve in the New York state constitutional convention and was appointed as a judge to the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in 1823. He was serving as Chief Justice of the New York Supreme Court, when President John Tyler appointed him a Justice seat on the United States Supreme Court in 1845. Nelson served as a Justice for 27 years, until his retirement on November 28, 1872. He died at age 81 in Cooperstown, New York. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)"
