Canandaigua June 20, 1849.
My Dearest Frances,
You are fortunate in being at liberty to remain in your
own shaded home when the sun is pouring down such intense
heat.
I visited at Mrs Seymour's
Birth: 1810-05-31 Death: 1886-02-12
last evening, there was a small but
pleasant party. Tomorrow evening I go to a party at Miss Grangers
Birth: 1819-09-15 Death: 1892-06-16
.
Judge Nelson
Birth: 1792-11-10 Death: 1873-12-13
has not come and the labors of the Court
have not begun. We shall probably begin them this afternoon at
three. In the meantime I am busy in studying the causes pre-
paratory for hard work.
Your champagne came quick after my order.
It is a peace offering – which will probably be a theme
of new complaint.
I shall be with you on Sunday. I am
better today than I have been in ten days, and have a hope
of getting great yet. Ever your own Henry.
