Charlotte Brooks Everett Wise was the daughter of Edward Everett, a well-known orator and President of Harvard University. She married Henry Augustus Wise, a US Navy officer and had four children. Their eldest daughter, Charlotte, was a peer of Fanny Seward's in Washington DC and the two attended dance classes together.
