Mrs Johnson is likely Mary Mackall Bowie Johnson, to whom Matilda Elizabeth Bowie is a sister. Other sisters of "Mrs Johnson" (aka Mary Mackall Bowie Johnson) include Camilla Bowie (18030225-?) and Emily Contee Bowie (18050503-18950720). Emily and Camilla were married by 1864, so we decided Matilda would be the most likely sister to traipse around Washington with Mrs. Johnson.

The parents of the Bowie sisters were Thomas Contee Bowie (1771xxxx-181304xx) and Mary Mackall (1776xxxx-18250731).
