Biography
Samuel Jones was born in Cold Harbor, New York. He studied law at Columbia and was a member of the New York Assembly from 1812-1814, a Recorder from 1823-1824, and the Chancellor for the State of New York from 1826-1828. From 1828-1847 he was Chief Justice of New York City Supreme Court.
