Biography
William was born in Holland. His mother was Princess Mary and his father William II. William was born 9 days after his father's death, on his mother's nineteenth birthday. He was made Prince of Orange in 1650. He married Princess Mary, the eldest daughter of England's Prince James, on November 4, 1677. The two had no children. On February 12, 1689 William and Mary were proclaimed joint monarchs of England. They ruled as joint sovereigns until Mary died in 1694, after which William ruled alone until 1702.
