Sir Isaac Newton was an English physicist and mathematician who is generally thought of the leading figure of the Scientific Revolution of the 17th century. He had groundbreaking discoveries in topics such as optics, mechanics, and mathematics. Newton's 1687 work, "Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica (Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy)" is known as one of the most important single works in the history of science.
