Biography
He graduated from Union college in 1821 (a year after WHS) and later served as a Whig politician representing New York. He served in the House from 1837-1841 and as the Collector of the Port of New York from 1841-1844. After being removed as Collector by President John Tyler, Curtis worked as a lawyer in DC.
