Biography

Death is mentioned in a letter from Frances Miller Seward to her son Augustus Henry Seward, dated September 24th, 1851. Cause of death listed as dysentery.  
 1850 Tax roll assessment has him owning a store on Genesee Street and a house on North Street.
 Historical Records of A Hundred and Twenty Years, published 1913, mentions dry goods store owned by J.S. Bartlett destroyed by fire in 1837. Appears to have been rebuilt at a later date. 
 Newspapers from 1846-47 list store at 78 Genesee Street.
