Owen Marrin wrote, in 1853, to Frederick William Seward seeking information on gaining a position in the railroad. There are also letters from Owen Marrin to William Henry Seward from 1850. Owen Marrin was born in Ireland, but by 1855 lived in New York City with (inferred) wife Frances Marrin and (inferred) children Fanny, Eugene, Alice, William, and Matilda. Owen Marrin worked as a brass finisher. The 1880 census also states that he had become blind.
