Susannah Hall (nee Shakespeare) was the eldest daughter of William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway. She was born in 1583, and grew up near Stratford. In 1607, she married Dr. John Hall. Her father gave her 107 acres of land as a dowry. Susannah and John had a daughter, Elizabeth, in 1608. Susannah sued John for defamation in 1613. Lane did not turn up to defend himself, and was excommunicated.
