"Journalist. He is considered to be the first modern war correspondent. In 1843 he joined the London "Times" and reported from the field the Crimean War, the Indian Mutiny (1857), the American Civil War (1861) and the Austro-Prussian War (1866). He wrote several books including "My Diary North and South" (1863)."
