Frances's daughter, Fanny, describes Bailey in her diary, in an entry dated December 28, 1858, as being ill bred due to her table manners but still so likable as there is “something so genuine about her.” According to the 1860 U.S. Census, Fanny and her family lived in the 4th District, Washington.
