Westfield March 29th 1837.
My dear Augustus
I think Walter Cary
Birth: 1818-12-21 Death: 1880-11-01
ought to have
remained at College until the end of the term. They
always have an examination of the class at the end
of the term, and young men ought to be so well ac-
quainted with their studies as to be willing to submit
to an examination. It is all important for boys
and young men to acquire all the learning they
can, for their success in the world depends very much
upon the extent of their education.
Easter day has passed. I have heard nothing
about the Easter eggs. I am afraid that because Aunt
Clara
Birth: 1793-05-01 Death: 1862-09-05
was sick you did not have as great a
variety of colors in that way as you did last y[ear]
We have abundance of eggs here all the time
and I could wish you and Frederick
Birth: 1830-07-08 Death: 1915-04-25
were both
here to find them in the barn
I think I shall take the ponies home with me to
Auburn, and keep them there for Ma
Birth: 1805-09-24 Death: 1865-06-21
and Aunt
Clara to ride about with, and when you grow
a little older and they grow a little more gentle,
you can ride them.
I am happy to hear that you spend much of your
time in reading with your Ma. Besides that it is a
good thing to read much, it is very important to
read for her when she is lonesome, and thinks of your
Pa that is far away and of her infant
Birth: 1836-08-25 Death: 1837-01-14
that was taken
to Heaven
Affectionately your father.
W H Seward.
