Albany September 21st. 1840.
My dear Jennings,
Mr Blatchford
Birth: 1820-03-09 Death: 1893-07-07
will inform you of the reason why I am prevented
from going to Cayuga this week. Ou our father
Birth: 1768-12-05 Death: 1849-08-24
and mother
Birth: 1769-11-27 Death: 1844-12-11
had made themselves
all ready to make their visit here and I could not say them nay.
Mr Duer
Birth: 1782-10-07 Death: 1858-08-08
was advised of the delay and will doubtless be content with
it. Mr R. M. Blatchford
Birth: 1798-04-23 Death: 1875-09-04
who was At Florida with me was to call
upon Mr Duer this morning and explain the matter to him. It is now under-
stood that I will go next week with Mr Duer to Auburn & Chautauque.
This arrangement will give you an opportunity to return to Chautauque and
prepare your papers as you proposed. I will pay the draft you left with
Willard
Birth: 1781-03-10 Death: 1860Certainty: Probable
. If you can at find it necessary to close the business with G. H. Wood
Birth: 1805-10-07 Death: 1844-02

and Underwood
Birth: 1797-03-07 Death: 1864-01-05Certainty: Probable
I think you will do so without further delay. Advance
them the money, suspend entry of it in books & charge it on account,
I will see that Mr Duer assents to it or I will pay it when I come
to Chautauque. Of I am quite satisfied that the whole arrangement
will be carried out when Mr D. and I go out according to the original

proposition. But if it is not consist important to close until after Mr Duer said
it may be delayed. You will exercise your judgment in this matter.
I hope you will see Cook
Birth: 1800-11-20 Death: 1866-10-16
& Maxwell
Birth: 1794-02-11 Death: 1856-11-22
and ascertain whether they can do
what they proposed. When you leave for Chautauque please inform me.
Affectionately your brother
