My dear William Henry
Your beloved and always affectionate Mother
and waiting with the most signal composure till her change comes
which we are hourly expecting – She raises but little &
and with great difficulty – and it is to be feared a speedy
suffocation will take place – She has her reason perfectly
is in body composed & resigned but O Henry how can I
part with her – How much we want your company
and sympathy in this our [ distresed ]
Alternate Text: distressed situation, but
what shall we say, To suffer the awfull [ horor ]
Alternate Text: horror to
pass by and you not be with us how can we
endure it – all we can say is she is past all hope is
hourly failing percepably and probably will not
live through the night – She no [ dout ]
Alternate Text: doubt feels a great
desire to see you once more, we too know not
how to get along without your presence, But this
we must leave to you and shall write daily
until you come
I too am feeble and only able
to walk the floor and am daily admonished
that time with me also will soon be no more
Frances Grier
