Auburn August 23 Thursday
My dear Henry,
I wrote you a letter this
evening sent to Cooperstown – This afternoon
a letter came from Mr Hall
Birth: 1795-10-16 Death: 1870-12-24
describing a
house in F. street opposite Mr Burke’s
Birth: 1809-01-23 Death: 1882-01-25
– which
he considers more desirable than any other to
be found – The house is 3 story dining room in
the basement – 2 parlors on first floor – ten
rooms in all – he represents the house as
convenient – rent $400 a year to be paid
quarterly owned by an honest grocer
Unknown
in the city
Though the house in some respects is less convenient
desirable than Mr Burke’s I think it is perhaps
wiser to secure it – The answer to be returned
in a week from the 20th the date of the letter –
I wrote immediately to Mr Weed
Birth: 1797-11-15 Death: 1882-11-22
enclosing this
letter and desiring him to give it to you if you
passed through Albany or send it to you if
he knows your whereabouts – It has since occurred
to me that Mr Weed might be absent – I also
suggested to him should he think advisable to send
an affirmative answer to Mr Hall taking the house
for one year – It is to be taken from
the 1 of September which is one objection.

Mr Hall seems to think he can do no better –
You will answer by telegraph if you conclude
to take the house – I have written to
Cooperstown and Albany saying I am ready
to join you when you think proper – I am
anxious to hear from Florida – I came back
this morning from Canandaigua leaving Lazette
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03

about the house but very unwell –
I write in haste as the mail may have
closed already – Your own
Frances
All well at home–
