Office of the Evening Journal,
Albany, N. Y., Thursday 185 7

I went to
the Treasurer’s Office this
morning. The whole amount
due on Mr Mc Clallen’s
Birth: 1791-09-07 Death: 1860-11-16

I paid the $100, which
covers the interest and reduces
the principal to $177.21.
The Treasurer
Unknown
says as long
as the interest is regularly paid
the principal can remain unpaid
for any length of time. The
interest now will not be
much over $12 a year, payable
each winter.
