Dear Mrs Seward,
I was cheered this
morning by your kind
note.
I was at Washington
only a few hours, & here
I am again—amusing
myself in the Astor
alone—& learning
something of the content
of this beautiful library;
but all the time repining
that I am not yet
completely restored.
My earnest hope is
to take part in debate
before this session is
passed. In a short
time I shall set my
face toward Washington,
intending to remain
there, when I shall
hope to see you & have
the messages from Mrs
Worden
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03
which youpromise.
My blood boils as
I think of the Villains
in high places!
Ever sincerely Yours,
Charles Sumner
