My dear Mother
Since I returned here
I have thought my matter over pretty thoroughly
and so my prospects appear nearly if not quite
the same in either case, whether I remain with
my present employers, or return with Father to
Washington, I have at length decided on the latter
course hopeing that it may meet with his approval,
by being with him I shall at least acquire some
knowledge of other business which opportunity is
not afforded me here, in taking this step I hope
I am acting for the best and not in opposition to
Fathers wishes, I should not have written in regard
to this affair so soon, but I think if I accompany
you to Washington I ought at least give Davidson
& Viele all possible notice, as yet I have said nothing
to them and thought I would not untill I heard
something from Father or yourself.
I received Fathers check to day for which I am
much obliged. My fever I think has entirely
left me but the neuralgia still remains although not
as painful as it was at first.
“Fred” & “Anna” are quite well and send love.
