From NY Times Obit: Maurice Edward Viele, one of Albany's prominent retired business men, died today. He was a son of John L. Viele, and was born in Waterford, N. Y., May 17, 1823. In 1845, in partnership with Alexander Davidson, he established and iron and hardware house, which is now know as the Albany Hardware and Iron Company. He served as a Trustee of Rutgers College since 1853, as a trustee of the Albany Orphan Asylum since 1850, and as a trustee of the Albany Academy since 1872.
