Albany May 19
My dear Mother
I have been here
just two weeks tomorrow and am
beginning to get used to things here
We have to work pretty late nights
at the Store. The Spring trade is
just commenceing now and it bids
fair to be very lively here for a
month or two to come.
I find things very different here
from what they were at Barnes
Birth: 1824 Death: 1867
and
I also find Davidson
Birth: 1819-10-22 Death: 1859-06-16
& Viele
Birth: 1823-05-17 Death: 1903-02-19
very different from him Mr Viele
in particular I like very much indeed
Mr Davidson I do not like quite
as well but have no trouble in get-
-ting along with him.
There are thirteen of us in the
Store and all have all they
they can do. When does Father
Birth: 1801-05-16 Death: 1872-10-10
intend to come down here or has
he given it up. I saw Fred
Birth: 1830-07-08 Death: 1915-04-25
yesterday
he is quite well I have been up there
several times to ^a^tea since I came.
I have not been been to see Mrs
Schoolcraft
Birth: 1834-07-25 Death: 1922-02-28
yet, but intend to go
as soon as I get time although
I hardly know when that will be
I have been looking around for
a room for the last week but have
not found one which suited me yet
although I have been to see several
last night I went up in Broadway
to look at one there it pleased me
very much and I could get it at
the same rate which I am now
paying but it is over a mile from
my business and that is farther
than I want to walk after working
hard all day, so I did not take
it. How is Fanny
Death: 1860
(the Horse)
I suppose Willis
Birth: 1830
takes as good care
of her as ever.
Give my love to Auty Aunty
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03
Fanny
Birth: 1844-12-09 Death: 1866-10-29
and all the rest of the folks
Your affectionate son
Will
