Philadelphia
Monday. 19th Feb/66
My dearest Father,
I did not write
yesterday, thinking that letters
written Saturday & Sunday
would, of last week,
reach Washington at the
same time. It was
a rainy day and I did not
go out. Mrs Linnard
Birth: 1843 Death: 1911-12-05

sat with me all the
morning – and after church
time there was a gather-
ing of the family to chat
till dinner time. In
the afternoon Mrs. Souder
Birth: 1814-06-05 Death: 1886-12-22

came in my room &
read aloud. Then I

took a very long nap –
Then she came & read some
more. Then we went to
tea, and to sit in the parlor
talking & reading till it
was time to retire. Early
this morning – perhaps all
night – (I slept too soundly
to know) the rain was
falling – and it is falling
still. The weather is really
warm. My cough
is behaving very well –
This morning brings me
a budget of letters forward-
ed from Washington, &
written by various friends.
I do not hear again from
Will
Birth: 1839-06-18 Death: 1920-04-29
- but shall probably
have a dispatch today.
I have been taking some
nice little walks - & meant
Page 3

to have one this morning
but the rain prevents, &
I am going, instead, to write
to Aunty
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03
, who was having
a visit from Frank
Birth: 1832-02-20 Death: 1876-01-14
& his
mother
Birth: 1826-12-12 Death: 1909-08-24
, when I heard from
her last.
I was very glad to hear
by Anna’s
Birth: 1834-03-29 Death: 1919-05-02
letter that you
were feeling well notwithstand-
ing all your fatigues.
With a great deal of love
to all,
Very affectionately your daughter
Fanny
