My dear Father
Winter is with us,
with all it comforts and discom-
forts; the sleighing is very fine
and the snow looks as if
it intended to stay with
us until after Christmas,
so that you may enjoy a
sleighride. Our house is
very warm, and I think we
can make you comfortable.
I hope nothing will happen
to prevent your coming to us
