    Birth: 11-29-1809

Birth Date Prefix: either 1801 or

Death Date Prefix: died in Auburn but buried in MA

Biography

Mentioned in FMS 18380819FMS_WHS1. It is uncertain whether Asaph was born in 1809 or 1801. Find-A-Grave lists 1809, but the tombstone is pretty illegible and "1" may have been misread as "9". John Adams Vinton's "The Giles Memorial" says "Asaph D. Leonard, son of Capt. Justin Leonard and Theodosia Leonard, was born on 29 Nov 1801 in West Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. He died in Mar 1846. He moved to Auburn, NY." When I put that information into Ancestry, I found this hit: http://trees.ancestrylibrary.com/tree/49719805/person/20247407102. However, using the original information from Find-A-Grave (which lists Asaph's parents as Asaph Leonard, Sr., and Anna Leonard), I found a different Ancestry tree: http://trees.ancestrylibrary.com/tree/35190961/person/18759700179. So, long story is that I'm confused about the legitimacy of this information, but what we do know is that:

Leonard was village president of Auburn, New York, from 1834-35. He is mentioned in the Seward microfilm .pdf with correspondence from 1832 and 1838.
