Biography

Mary Coe was born to one of Samuel Swazey Seward's slaves, Chloe Salware, in 1819. In 1834 FMS asked WHS to bring her to Auburn from Orange County. 

Mentioned again in 18491222FMS_CMS where FMS says: 

"Our milk man 
an Irishman insulted
Mary Coe the other morning
so we have disciplined him
and now get our milk
of a coloured family."
