Biography

John Johnston Schoolcraft was the son of Henry Rowe Schoolcraft and his first wife Jane Johnston. Jane was a writer of Ojibwa and Scots-Irish ancestry. John was sent to a boarding school at a young age, and later fought in the Civil War.
