Sarah "Sallie/Sally" Cornelia Miller Fendall was born in Washington, DC, the daughter of successful physician Dr. Thomas Miller and Virginia Collins Jones Miller. In November 1874, she married Arthur Fendall, a Washington lawyer. The couple had two children, Thomas Miller Fendall and Mary Arthur Fendall Harrison. Frances "Fanny" Seward references spending time in Dr. Miller's home in her 1858-1859 diary and that one of his daughters was receiving organ instruction from Mr. Palmer.
